  Objectives: Identify the most prevalent diagnostic errors: diagnosis of cancer, diagnosis of surgical complications, diagnosis of acute abdomen related conditions, diagnosis of pregnancy related conditions, and diagnosis of neurological conditions.  Illustrate case studies detailing prevalent diagnostic and performance errors.  Be aware of necessary elements of a root cause analysis.  Define risk management measures designed to prevent medical errors and increase patient safety.
